Leukemia and the Musculoskeletal System
Musculoskeletal System: The musculoskeletal system is composed of a person's bones, cartilage, joints, ligaments and tendons. (2)
Leukemia affects the Musculoskeletal system because it is the cancer of the bone marrow. It causes the bone marrow to produce abnormal white blood cells that can multiply uncontrollably. However other than the bone marrow, Leukemia can cause bone or joint-pain in the human body. The bone or joint-pain is indirectly caused by Leukemia due to the loss of appetite and low nutrition intake in the human body. As you can see, Leukemia can affect the Musculoskeletal system directly and indirectly.(1)
